What is BLS Training and Who Should Get It?
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is a basic life-saving training course and will teach you basic life-saving skills—how to revive, resuscitate, or sustain a person who is experiencing any type of respiratory failure or cardiac issue, so you can preserve their life until medical assistance arrives.
While most healthcare and public safety positions require certification, it may also be mandatory for public-facing roles, such as lifeguards, athletic coaches and teachers. Even if it is not a requirement, babysitters, nannies, daycare workers, elderly caretakers, and others can benefit greatly from BLS training. BLS certification typically lasts two years before you will need to be recertified, as guidelines are often updated.
What Is Taught in a BLS Class?
The primary skills taught in the BLS training include basic first aid and CPR, so you can learn everything you need to respond during a life-threatening emergency. During your BLS certification class, you will learn:
- How to identify an emergency situation & determine proper care
- How to perform CPR (both 1-rescuer and 2-rescuer scenarios)
- How to use an AED (automated external defibrillator)

What is the Cost of BLS Training and How Do I Register?
Our classes require a minimum of six students for the following price levels:
- 6 to 12 person groups will cost $50 per person.
- 13 to 20 person groups will cost $45 per person.
- 21-30 person groups will cost $40 per person.
- 31 and up groups will cost $35 per person.
