Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone, young or old, at any time. It is a leading cause of death in the U.S., and it happens when the heart abruptly stops. When an adult collapses, odds are that it’s from sudden cardiac arrest. Odds are also high that if bystanders respond at all, the only thing they will do is call 9-1-1. Medical attention is critical, but bystanders must act first — and fast — because every minute counts. We want all Americans to learn – and use – Hands-Only CPR so we can save more lives.
