Dermal Filler Training: Lip Filler, Nasolabial Folds

At OC Safety, we prioritize giving people the best education they need so that their patients feel secure in their care. While we’re known for our First Aid & CPR training, we also provide aesthetic training to those who are going into cosmetology, dermatology, and the plastic surgery field. As part of our aesthetic training, you will learn how to properly inject dermal fillers/botox, perform dermaplaning, apply chemical peels, and so much more. But what does dermal filler training entail? Here is a part of what you’ll learn in our dermal filler training at OC Safety.

Emphasis Lip Filler

Lip fillers have become one of the most popular cosmetic procedures today. In order to offer and perform lip injections, dermal filling training is a requirement for physicians, nurses, and medical professionals. As a part of our program at OC Safety, you will learn the fundamentals of performing lip injections for lip enhancement and lip augmentation.

Most lip fillers are made of hyaluronic acid (HA), a gel-like substance that can add fullness to areas that have thinned out over time due to aging. This ingredient is used to treat volume in the lips and around the mouth. In our class, you will learn different techniques to perform lip filler injections, what are in lip injections, and what tools you’ll need to use on the patient. Overall, you’ll learn how to properly control the shape and volume of the lips your patient wants.

Emphasis Nasolabial Folds

Not only will you learn how to perform lip injections, but you’ll also learn how to perform dermal fillers on other areas of the face in our course. You’ll learn how to perform injections on marionette lines (corner of the mouth), nasolabial folds (smile lines and/or laugh lines), and the midface (for cheek enhancement).

Nasolabial folds are one of the biggest areas many patients want to be filled. Known as “smile lines” or “laughter lines”, smiling can create nasolabial folds. The more time you spend smiling and laughing, the more these lines become more prominent and deepen with age. When a patient looks in the mirror and they see visible nasolabial folds, they often regard them as a sign that they’re aging.

Performing a nasolabial fold injection can potentially be dangerous because it is the sight closest to the facial artery. If the dermal filler is injected into the artery, it is dangerous. That’s why it’s important for all medical professionals to get the proper training in order to perform the procedure. At OC Safety, you’ll learn to perform the injection properly and prevent dangerous effects.
